Gaines and Company Employee Recognized for Being a Safety Leader

Maryland Quarterly Safety Award – 2ND Quarter 2021

Welding is a skill that certainly isn’t for everyone. It takes precision, innovation, and a strict dedication to safety. Gaines and Company is proud to have a quality welder that places his focus on safe work practices. Dennis Mckissick was recognized with the quarterly Safety Excellence Award for being a leader in safe work practices in Gaines and Company’s Maryland region.

Dennis Mckissick joined Gaines and Company as the company’s only welder. He performs all welding and fabrication work, from continued maintenance to innovative builds.

He is a smart worker, understanding the potential hazards in his work and effectively mitigating them each day on the job.

In just a year and half with the company, Dennis has become the ideal mentor. He not only models safe work, but also coaches coworkers on continuously working safer.

Dennis Mckissick isn’t just a skilled welder. He is also a safety leader and mentor.

Safety Director Dominic Pope said, “Dennis is a picture-perfect example of safety. As a welder, he always has hazards he needs to watch for – including arc flashes. He looks out for others by screening up and never cuts corners. Even in really hot weather, you will always find him fully-decked out in his PPE – from earplugs to leather welding sleeves. He is just the epitome of safety.”

Dennis was awarded a Safety Excellence Award certificate, Safety Excellence hat, $150 in safety bucks to use on gear in the company’s , and a DEWALT radio, graciously donated by Gaines and Company’s marketing and web services firm, Vesta Construction Websites. Dennis will be considered for the year-end 2021 Safety Excellence Award, along with all 2021 quarterly winners.

Dominic added, “He’s been a great addition to our company by supporting and enhancing our company safety culture. I know I can count on him when it comes to safety.”
