How does a site development company keep projects moving when a dozer breaks down, equipment inspections are due, or equipment computers need updated? Gaines and Company – an industry leading site development company in the Mid-Atlantic region – trusts their in-house shop personnel to manage their equipment and machinery needs, keeping workers safe, equipment compliant, and projects progressing.
Gaines’s shop personnel – including welders, in-house mechanics, and road mechanics – are the army behind the scenes. They do everything necessary to keep equipment running, including routine maintenance, parts repairs, equipment rebuilds, inspections, and equipment upgrades.
“They don’t care how dirty they are, how hot it is, or how covered in diesel fuel they may be by the end of the day. They do what they need to do to keep equipment operational and projects progressing,” said Equipment Manager Joe Falise. “Having a team this great makes my job easy. They have the knowledge to diagnose each issue and immediately get to work to correct the problem.”
Unlike mechanics that specialize in one brand of equipment, Gaines’s shop personnel are well-versed with the knowledge and skillset to service various types and brands of equipment.
“Not only do they know the inner workings of this equipment and how to fix issues, but they’ve completed specific training to their line of expertise and shop needs – like OSHA 10, DOT and state inspections, line boring, and brake certifications. It’s intricate work, and they really know their stuff!” said Safety Director Dominic Pope.
While Joe manages shop personnel in Gaine’s Maryland and North Carolina locations, North Carolina’s Shop Foreman Claude Perkins and Technical Equipment Support Specialist Brandy Smith provide additional support.

“Claude and Brandy keep us in line and organized,” said Joe. “They do a great job keeping our work in order – from keeping records on equipment to monitoring work orders. They make sure nothing falls through the cracks.”
A special congratulations to our outstanding shop personnel in both our Maryland and North Carolina locations. Thanks for keeping our equipment running!
