Building Our Company — And Industry!
Gaines and Company delivers more than exceptional site development expertise. They also donate time, knowledge, and skills to build the industry they love. They’ve been doing it for decades and aren’t stopping anytime soon. After nearly a decade serving Associated Utility Contractors of Maryland (AUC), Gaines and Company’s Project Manager Keith Eagle steps down from his involvement with the industry association. During this transition, Safety Director Dominic Pope fills the vacant Board seat.
AUC is one of the many safety organizations that Gaines and Company is associated with. AUC was incorporated in 1950 and is still a leading industry organization to this day. Its mission is to develop, maintain, and enhance relationships with public works and elected representatives to address problems and concerns within the utility contracting industry, ensuring safety and increased opportunities.

The association is highly active with industry partners, including Clean Water Construction Coalition (C.W.C.C.), MISS Utility, Maryland Occupational Safety and Health (MOSH), and OSHA. It also sponsors several functions each year, such as a bull roast, fishing event, dinner dance, and golf outing.
Gaines’s involvement with AUC spans generations. In fact, Gaines and other AUC members worked closely with MOSH decades ago to establish standards that evolved into industry regulations used today.
With over 70 years of experience, Gaines and Company has provided input and ideas that have evolved into modern standards in industry.
President Lee Gaines and Vice President Myrt Gaines served as past presidents of the association. Keith Eagle joined AUC in 2010 and served as President from 2020-2023. He remained involved with the organization’s leadership after his term. Dominic Pope – who has attended AUC meetings and events since 2014 – was recently elected as AUC’s Treasurer for the 2025-2026 term. Before this position, he was Chairman for the Safety, New Membership, and Website committees. He will begin Treasurer duties on January 1, 2025.
Gaines and Company is proud to not only be a leading site development company in the Mid-Atlantic region, but to also employ individuals who genuinely want to advance the safety and progress of the utility industry.
