North Carolina Site Development Contractor Promotes from Within to Meet Market Demand
A Foundation of People – A Legacy Built to Last
Gaines and Company’s Raleigh, North Carolina office space is outwardly beautiful—with an open and inviting floor plan, high-lofted beams and an industrial aesthetic. But according to George Grammer, newly appointed Vice President of the North Carolina Division, it’s the people inside that make this site development company a continued success. “It feels like family,” he says.
Whether a skyscraper or solid road, every well-built structure needs a strong foundation if it is going to stand the test of time. At Gaines and Company, a full-service site construction company (including grading, utilities and paving), they believe their people are the underpinning on which everything else rests. In accordance with that, they continue to grow by taking the ‘human component’ seriously, creating a reputation as a great place to work.
Grammer has been with Gaines and Company for nearly 29 years and has worn many hats, from laborer to division manager. Now, ironically, his family works at Gaines and Company. His wife is the North Carolina office manager and his son works for the Maryland Division as an estimator and project manager.
Over the years, Grammer believes in improving lives and investing in employees as if they were family. This, along with core safety values, creates a work environment that is friendly, growth oriented, and cooperation driven. These qualities extend to both of the site developer’s locations – Knightdale, NC and Reisterstown, MD. An example of this is when an employee [and veteran] lost his home to Hurricane Florence, Gaines and Company employees quickly jumped in with funding to help him rebuild.
As Vice President of the North Carolina operations, Grammer is proud to be adding to the quality of Gaines and Company employees lives while building our nation’s infrastructure. More importantly, Gaines and Company has created another kind of lasting legacy which will endure long past their latest project. They leave us with a roadmap of how to treat others as they build and expand a business on a worthwhile principle—a foundation of people.
