Gaines & Company Corporate Equipment Manager Keeps the Tracks Turning

On an average day, Gaines runs 275 pieces of equipment throughout over 30 job sites. If the equipment breaks down, work doesn’t get done. If work doesn’t get done— well, Gaines wouldn’t be an industry-leading site development company in the Mid-Atlantic and Southeast regions like it is. Equipment managers are critical to the success of any construction company. Joe Falise moved into the role of Gaines’s Corporate Equipment Manager not even one year ago and is driving the success of his team.

Joe came to Gaines in February 2023 as Equipment Manager based out of the Maryland division. He transitioned into the role of Corporate Equipment Manager in January 2024, now overseeing shops in both Maryland and North Carolina.

Joe Falise (not pictured) manages shop personnel in Gaines’s Maryland and North Carolina locations, as well as oversees 500+ pieces of equipment and 100+ commercial and noncommercial vehicles.

Joe and his team are responsible for over 500 pieces of specialized equipment and over 100 commercial and non-commercial vehicles. They work directly with superintendents and foremen to ensure all Gaines equipment is ready to run. They also run an efficient preventative maintenance program, resolving issues before they even arise.

“As a production-oriented company, we cannot work if our equipment goes down. Therefore, Joe’s role is crucial to the success of our business,” said Vice President David Gaines.

“Joe came to us with an extensive and diverse background. He knows the equipment and how to oversee it,” said Vice President Bill Gaines. “Joe and his team do a great job of being one step ahead of maintenance and repairs, providing crews what they need, when they need it – which is often half the battle.”

Joe and his team purchase, sell, and maintain equipment – including meeting state, DOT and OSHA standards. They repair and rebuild parts, as well as perform necessary equipment systems upgrades.

“Joe has a great, can-do attitude,” said Bill. “He’s not afraid speak up and tackles difficult issues.”

“Joe has a great demeanor, is a team player, and brings a lot to the table. He has fresh ideas and works with the level of precision needed to smoothly keep operations progressing,” added David. “We are grateful to have him on our team!”
