Gaines and Company Employee Recognized for Outstanding Commitment to Safe Work

North Carolina Quarterly Safety Award – 2ND Quarter 2021

Luis Ramirez has experience, knowledge, and talent. He works with a safety-first attitude and upholds Gaines and Company’s almost 70-year reputation of successfully delivering site development services with safety, quality, and reliability. Thanks to employees like Luis, Gaines and Company continues to be an industry leader in not only its project delivery, but keeping those throughout its job sites safe. Luis was awarded Gaines and Company’s quarterly Safety Excellence Award for his all-around dedication to safe work.

Luis has worked for Gaines and Company for 20 years. As a main line operator, he is responsible for digging trenches, hooking up and laying pipe, and making sure the ground is suitable for safe work. However, he takes his job one step further. Luis is a significant contributor to Gaines and Company’s safety culture by always looking out for others.

“Luis is an all-around safe worker. If he sees something not right, he lets me know so it can be fixed right away. He always digs safely and correctly, keeping everyone on site safe,” said Brady Degroft, Luis’s foreman, who nominated him for this award.

Luis works on projects for various industries, including commercial and residential builders, government agencies, military installations, power plants, and municipalities. His safe, quality work is vital to the successful operations of Gaines and Company throughout its North Carolina region.

Brady added, “Luis is a real team player and just a good guy. He’s one of the best people I’ve ever met in my lifetime.”

Luis was presented a Safety Excellence Award certificate by Safety Director Dominic Pope and Foreman Brady Degroft. He also received $150 in safety bucks to use on gear in the company’s online safety store. Luis is eligible for the 2021 year-end Safety Excellence Award, where he will be considered along with other 2021 Safety Excellence Award recipients from Gaines and Company’s Maryland and North Carolina locations. Luis was one of two recipients for the North Carolina Safety Excellence Award for the 2021 second quarter.
