SAFETY TRAINING & ORIENTATION

Gaines and Company employees at both of our locations – Maryland and North Carolina – must complete new hire orientation safety training.

This mandatory, pre-jobsite training specifically addresses site development, underground utilities, storm water management and roadway work safety.

ADDITIONAL TRAINING

In addition, all Gaines and Company jobsite laborers must attend safety training which utilizes hands-on techniques and incorporates new technology, always current with OSHA records and standards.

Additional training programs and weekly toolbox talks are all instructed by the company’s Safety Director.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Underground utility crews complete specialized training with gas detection for confined spaces. This includes completing pre-entry inspections with monitors and micro docking stations that calibrate and download all information.

Fall protection is implemented into a tripod system to eliminate falls in confined spaces. These crews also are trained in underground utility damage prevention with the use of utility locators. High-end rigging equipment is designed to show failure and prevent hazards when lifting.

Before working on any military project, Gaines and Company employees must complete specialized underground utility training and safety training, as well as acquire necessary security clearances.

Gaines and Company DOT driver training follows federal motor carrier guidelines and Code of Maryland Regulations (COMAR). New drivers complete DOT and hazmat awareness training, background and past employer checks, defensive driving training, and a driving test. Drivers must also pass pre-hire DOT drug testing.

Our highly trained supervisory personnel receive further training and certification in:

  • OSHA 30 HOUR
  • NSC (National Safety Council) Reasonable Suspicion Training
  • Signs & Symptoms Safety Programs
