Gaines and Company’s Top Stories of 2023

2023 was a busy year for Gaines and Company. We’ve satisfied customers with our quality delivery, received industry awards, reached new milestones, recognized employees for outstanding safety performances, and advanced our full-service site development operations throughout the Mid-Atlantic region from both our Maryland and North Carolina locations. We are so proud of our employees and what we have accomplished together. Let’s look back at some of our top stories from 2023.

#10. GAINES AND COMPANY CELEBRATES 7 YEARS OF SMART DIGGING

As a leading turnkey, site development company in the Mid-Atlantic region, our crews like to play in the dirt. While this is 100% accurate (maybe we are just big kids at heart), the experts at Gaines and Company are doing much more than playing in the dirt when they step onto one of our job sites. Not only do our crews work safely, but they also work smartly. Gaines and Company’s last seven years are a perfect example of smart excavation work.

#9. ERIC BOONE PROMOTED TO CHIEF ESTIMATOR AND SENIOR PROJECT MANAGER

An organization’s chief estimator is the foundation of a successful project. If the estimator overlooks details, the crews experience gaps. If the estimator miscalculates budgets, the crews end up shorthanded. If the estimator falls short, the project will likely fall short, also. This role requires an experienced professional who understands the industry, companies, and project goals. Gaines and Company is proud to have one of the best in the industry – Eric Boone.

#8. FUN FACT FRIDAY: MARYLAND OFFICE MURAL

Local artist, Charles Macsherry, brought some sunshine and dirt into our Maryland office with this beautiful, hand-painted wall mural.

#7. MARYLAND SUPERINTENDENTS WITH 128 YEARS OF EXPERTISE

Gaines and Company understands the benefits that experience brings to a project. Its Maryland construction superintendents have a wealth of knowledge and experience – totaling an impressive 128 years of industry expertise!

#6. FUN FACT FRIDAY: JOSH BUZZELL

Josh Buzzell worked his way from End Dump Operator to GPS Excavator Operator. He is a dedicated and safe worker. We are grateful to have Josh on the Gaines and Company team!

#5. EXCAVATOR OPERATOR BRINGS ATTENTION TO SAFETY ISSUES

Excavator Operator Mike Kegley received the Safety Excellence Achievement Award for bringing attention to safety issues.

#4. SHOP MANAGER BRIAN PETTIE RETIRES AFTER 33 YEARS

After 33 years of contributing to Gaines and Company’s success, Shop Manager Brian Pettie is exploring the next chapter of his life – retirement.

#3. EXCAVATOR OPERATOR RECOGNIZED WITH SAFETY AWARD

Kenny Smith received the Safety Excellence Achievement Award for prioritizing the safety of his entire crew.

#2. FUN FACT FRIDAY: AIDAN KIRKENDALL
